Moby, the Great White Truck
friend of 23 summers ~
one last drive together

Moby Truck was a 1991 Toyota 4Runner.  I used it to explore the back country, particularly around Bridgeport and Body, CA, to haul me and my gear to painting sites, and to haul paintings to shows, and also for our migrations up and down the West Coast.   Good old car!  It didn't die, just became too old to be our principal form of transportation.  23 years;  274,452 km.

Posted on Facebook's NaHaiWriMo page on 3/13/2013.  Prompt was primary mode of transportation.
EARLIER THIS YEAR ...

by the sparkling stream

Posted on Facebook's NaHaiWriMo page on 1/16/2013.
Prompt was fresh water, rivers, streams, a puddle

Iceland ...

rock hard
the landscape looks as though
it once flowed

waves of lava
breaking on a shore
that came before

now frozen
inviting contemplation
of what comes next

an ocean
of rock waiting for
the next waves

Posted on Facebook's NaHaiWriMo page on 9/18/2012.  Prompt was surreal.

The landscape of Iceland seems surreal at times, so the prompt and that landscape seemed suited to each other.

EARLIER THIS YEAR ...

from the bus' window
a sea of concrete ...
once green marshlands

I could have been anywhere;  in fact, I was riding the airport bus from New York City to Newark Airport, across the New Jersey Meadowlands.  The Meadowlands, also known as the Hackensack Meadowlands, is a large ecosystem of wetlands in northeast New Jersey.  It is know for being the site of large landfills and decades of environmental abuse.

The haiku was posted on Facebook's NaHaiWriMo page on 1/14/2013.  The prompt was Concrete/bricks/ general building supplies.
